Pickleball Addiction

Pickleball Addiction

Pickleball Proverb

Forcing something to completion, ruins what was almost ripe. Those who rush the net, are easily punished.  Advance, split step, and prepare to reset. Those who try hard to shine, diminish their own light.

Are you addicted to Pickleball?  I think I am...

Here are some quick facts...

  1. Substance abuse refers to excessive use of a drug in a way that is detrimental to self, society, or both
  2. Addiction refers to a continual desire to take a drug despite harmful consequences.
  3. I excessively play Pickleball. I play every day, sometimes for 4-6 hours a day. When I am not playing I also train by doing exercises, reading, watching videos, or doing something else to enhance my play. Thankfully, society accepts my behavior so it has not resulted in too many negative consequences. Most of my relationships have remained functional and I have not yet been fired from work for playing too much Pickleball.
  4. For the past 2 weeks I have been fighting tennis elbow, which has resulted in severe pain in my arm when I hit particular shots. I seem to be addicted because despite these consequences, it has not diminished my desire for more play or the amount of time on the court.

I suppose there are worse addictions in life and for the most part Pickleball keeps me healthy.  I have fun, meet wonderful people, and stay in decent shape.
